Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Adam Potgieter, trading as The Lazy Fork ("we", "us", "our"), governing your use of the thelazyfork.co.uk website and app (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

2. Your Account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
• You must provide a valid email address and verify it before using the Service.
• Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
• You may link your account with other users via a household "sync code." Anyone you share this code with will be able to see and edit shared recipes, meal plans, and grocery lists in that household — only share it with people you trust.

3. The Service

The Lazy Fork lets you create, import, and organise recipes, plan meals, generate shareable/offline grocery lists, and export PDFs. Some features (e.g. household sync, unlimited recipes) may be limited to paid "premium" plans.

We may add, change, or remove features, and may modify or discontinue the Service (in whole or part) at any time. Where reasonably possible, we'll give you notice of material changes that affect paid features.

4. Recipe Import Tool

The Service allows you to import recipes by pasting a URL, which we fetch and parse into a structured recipe. This feature is provided for your personal convenience. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to copy and store content you import (e.g. respecting the source website's own terms and copyright), and we are not responsible for the accuracy of content pulled from third-party sites.

5. Your Content

• You retain ownership of the recipes, photos, and other content you create or upload ("Your Content").
• By submitting Your Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and reproduce it solely to operate and provide the Service to you and anyone you share it with (e.g. your household).
• You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to upload it. Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringes someone else's rights, or is abusive or harmful.
• We use automated filtering (e.g. a profanity filter) on some user-submitted content; we may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Health & Recipe Disclaimer

Recipes, nutritional information, prep/cook times, and ingredient suggestions on the Service are provided for general informational purposes only and may be created by other users or imported from third-party websites. We do not verify their accuracy, safety, or suitability for any particular diet, allergy, or health condition. Always check ingredients and preparation methods yourself, especially if you have food allergies, intolerances, or specific dietary or medical needs. We are not liable for any illness, allergic reaction, or other harm arising from recipes or information on the Service.

7. Subscriptions & Billing

• Certain features require a paid subscription ("Premium"). Prices and plan details are shown at checkout.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time via the billing portal (accessible in-app); cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you will retain premium access until then.
• Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. If you believe you've been charged in error, contact us at [email protected].
• We may change subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice; continued use after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts, households, or our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service (e.g. excessive automated requests, scraping our platform itself)
• Upload malicious code or content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights of others
• Use the recipe-import feature to systematically scrape or republish third-party content at scale

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account inside the app, or by contacting [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or if we discontinue the Service, with notice where reasonably possible. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. Sections 5, 6, 10, 11) will continue to apply.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. This does not affect any statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded under applicable law (e.g. the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015).

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or £50 if you're on a free plan). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence may also apply and are not overridden by this clause. Any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For material changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you (e.g. by email).
